Auburn -

Thank the Lord!  Thought I should give everyone an update on Logan.  On the 18th Logan had surgery  to remove a Wilm's tumor and his kidney.  The tumor was as big as a softball.  We were able to return home on the 23rd only to head back down on the 24th.  Duey and Luci had several meetings on Monday and Tuesday.  We have been waiting for the pathology report on the tumor as to what treatment Logan will have.  There was a difference of opinion between pathology and the surgeon.  The tumor was sent to Chicago for staging. Received news last night that the stage was 2 and Logan does not have to have radiation.  This is answer to prayer!  Thank you everyone for all the prayers and well wishes.  Jo

Submitted by Jessica Larson (Logan is the 4-year-old son of Jessica’s friends):.

Logan was diagnosed in July with a Wilms tumor. They removed the tumor and he went through chemo therapy.

Chemo is now done! If scans go well on the 27th then he gets his port out on Jan 9th!!

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers! God is good! ALL the time!

Logan Colgan was taken to Riley Hospital via ambulance from Lutheran Hospital on Wednesday, February 1st.  They did a CT Scan and discovered a blockage.  They placed an NG tube in his nose to help with the blockage but as of Saturday evening he still had the blockage.  An update from Aunt Jaci (Lockwood) on Sunday proved that prayer works and Logan's blockage is clearing up and he may get to go home tomorrow - on his 4th birthday!  Praise God!

Greensburg - Word has been received that Freida Weber is now permanently residing at Hillside Country Living, 9876 CR 16, Bryan, OH 43506.  She is residing in a nursing home with her sister, although she does not recognize her.  They keep residents like Freida busy by having them help fold towels.  The home is located in NE Ohio, West of Toledo.

Brother Ed Neal is much better and is healing nicely.  He is going back in May for another MRI.  Pray for the healing of his kidney.  He has only 20% usage of one kidney and they are hoping that it comes back to 40% as it is putting stress on the good kidney.  Otherwise he is doing well and feeling much. Ed and Ruth would like to everyone for the cards and prayers and words of encouragement!

Let us of us offer up our prayers for Brother Dennis and his family, especially during this time of year when it makes a tragic accident more difficult to handle.

Quick update on Dennis...we continue to wait on the decision regarding his transfer to a rehab facility-vs-sub acute rehab at a nursing home. I think everyone knows what we are hoping for but the decision is completely out of our hands. Dennis has to be deemed "appropriate" for rehab by the assessment team from either Hooks Rehab or Rehab Hospital of Indiana. St. Vincent's really does not play a part in this decision. Assessment nurses from both Hooks and RHI have told me that it is important that Dennis be able to follow some commands and be able to be weight-bearing on 3 out of 4 of his extremities. He is definitely following some commands but the extremity issue is a bit worrisome. All we can do at this point is continue to pray and support Dennis in his progress.

I was with Dennis yesterday and he continuously maintained eye contact. He also moved his left leg (the one with the broken ankle) non-stop. I had the sense that either his leg was hurting or his lower back. I tried every way I could think of to get his response but it was not happening yesterday. I think we take for granted how the simplest movements for Dennis completely wear him out. He did look totally exhausted yesterday. I also think sometimes he just looks scared. We have tried to reassure him with things like his ability to talk has not been taken away--he will just have to relearn due to the trach, the neck brace and how he is NOT paralyzed, and how even though he might not feel like that he has come so incredibly far in his recovery.

As you all go about your week--and we get closer to Spring-we ask that you keep Dennis in your thoughts and prayers and that we will hear the news of where Dennis will be transferred for the next steps in his journey of recovery. We also want to convey that if the transfer is not to rehab but to an extended care facility that we will make the very best of the situation. We will stay on top of the care and make sure that Dennis' needs are met. We will then continue to request the assessment for admission into a rehab facility whenever we feel he is ready.

Thanks to everyone. Please be safe in your travels this Super Bowl Sunday
